External walls may have to be plastered, in which case there is the option of removing the old plaster and revealing the original walls.
The internal walls will also be plastered and plaster can be removed if so desired. Generally however the internal walls are re-plastered with some natural features left visible.
Often while undertaking this internal work you could come across a pleasant surprise - maybe an original arched walkway or even an old pizza oven hidden behind the walls - these can provide a breath taking feature.
Internal walls are of two types, supporting and partition. If a supporting wall is removed it will need to be replaced with an RSJ or steel beam which can have an adverse effect on the cosmetics of the operation. Partition walls can easily be removed or repositioned.

Stonework

Rendering
We offer 2 options for the rendering to the exterior of a property.
Option 1
We prepare brick work by removing all loose and old cracked or cracking material, we then apply a bond which aides the render to grab the surface, using a sand and cement render we create and apply an ultra tough bond to the exterior of the property protecting it from the elements of weather, providing a wonderful look at the same time. We can apply additional types of waterproofing to surfaces which are badly affected by the weather. We render block and/or brick walls to provide a long lasting weatherproof surface.
Option 2
Using the same preperation method as option 1 we apply a bond and attach insulation panels, webbing and render this method acts as an insulation preventing heatloss during the winter months, however and keeping your property cool during the summer, inturn reducing your energy bills.
Pointing or repointing-brickwork & stonework
Is the mortar between bricks, the visible edge of the mortar-joint, repointing is to remove and replace the old mortar with new. Properly done, repointing restores the visual and physical integrity of the masonry. Improperly done, repointing not only detracts from the appearance of the building, but may also cause physical damage to the masonry units themselves.
Damp proofing
Is the waterproof layer between bricks, under a concrete floor is called the damp proof course. It is designed to stop water rising into the house from the ground or foundations. It is possible to turn a damp or even wet basement or cellar into a habitable room or area used for dry storage, but it is imperative to use the correct waterproofing membrane system otherwise all you are doing is masking the problem.
