Calabria is a land of strong and intense emotions; so are its flavours and world renowned Calabrian hot pepper can prove it.

The strong flavour of hot pepper is contrasted by the sweet taste of Tropea red onion, Diamante in Calabria is famous for it's Pepperoncino and there are festivals held of every year in celebration.
Calabrian products and typical dishes are numerous. Extra-virgin olive oils, wines, a particularly well known wine is produced in produced in Verbicaro Calabria. Bergamot liqueurs, liquorice, citron and herbs, honey and jams the list goes on, with a mild climate and lots of sunshine this region of Italy can satisfy every taste bud and is well worth the visit. The Calabria region also produces Cedro fruit, Calabria is one of the few areas in the world that grow Cedro fruit, it is a cross between a lemon and lime, it is sour tasting but is often used in cakes, jams and marmalades, there is a lovely little shop in Santa Maria del Cedro where you can buy many foods and liquers that use the Cedro fruit. |
